Tijd voor een nieuwe versie van iOS, iPadOS en MacOS.
Met ingang van iOS 17.3 vind je op de iPhone een functie: Stolen Device Protection. Deze functie voorkomt dat iemand die de toegangscode van de iPhone kent, bijvoorbeeld je Apple ID-wachtwoord kan wijzigen. Schakel je Stolen Device Protection in, dan is voor bepaalde zaken altijd Face ID nodig om gegevens te wijzigen of instellingen aan te passen. Je toegangscode is daar dan niet meer beschikbaar als backup voor het geval je gezicht niet herkend wordt.
De functie is te vinden via Instellingen > Face ID/Touch ID en toegangscode > Bescherming voor gestolen apparaat. Je moet dit wel van tevoren inschakelen, dus voordat je iPhone gestolen wordt. In het dagelijks gebruik merk je nauwelijks verschil met de functie ingeschakeld.
Een andere nieuwe functie is het kunnen samenwerken aan Apple Music-afspeellijsten. Je kan samen een afspeellijst maken, waarbij een ieder muziek toe kan voegen en de volgorde van de nummers kan wijzigen.
Apple heeft tot slot nog achter de schermen gesleuteld aan de crashdetectie. Een jaar geleden bleek dat wintersporters regelmatig onterechte meldingen van crashdetectie kregen. Ook mensen in een achtbaan kregen soms deze melding. Sindsdien heeft Apple met enige regelmaat in nieuwe iOS-updates het algoritme van de crashdetectie aangepast, om te voorkomen dat mensen onterechte waarschuwingen krijgen en 112 ingeschakeld wordt terwijl er niks aan de hand is. In iOS 17.3 heeft Apple opnieuw optimalisaties doorgevoerd bij de crashdetectie.

Stolen Device Protection
- Stolen Device Protection increases security of iPhone and Apple ID by requiring Face ID or Touch ID with no passcode fallback to perform certain actions
- Security Delay requires Face ID or Touch ID, an hour wait, and then an additional successful biometric authentication before sensitive operations like changing device passcode or Apple ID password can be performed

- New Unity wallpaper honors Black history and culture in celebration of Black History Month
Music
- Collaborate on playlists allows you to invite friends to join your playlist and everyone can add, reorder, and remove songs
- Emoji reactions can be added to any track in a collaborative playlist
This update also includes the following improvements:
- AirPlay hotel support lets you stream content directly to the TV in your room in select hotels
- AppleCare & Warranty in Settings shows your coverage for all devices signed in with your Apple ID
- Crash detection optimizations (all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models)
